Wednesday prayer 5-20-20
A Prayer a Day: Good day, Lord. It’s obvious millions of people in our country are in great distress.I think about the 36 million, who have lost their jobs. All I can say is, “Lord, in your mercy help the hopeless.” I think about the 94,000 souls, who have been lost to death and I say, “Lord, in your mercy comfort, those who are grieving.” I think of the doctors, nurses, medical support staff, EMTs, truckers, meat packers, nursing home staff, grocery store workers, and all I can say is,”Lord, in your mercy strengthen the exhausted.” Regardless, of the problem, every heart-breaking situation prompts the same prayer: “Lord, in your mercy help the hopeless, grieving, and exhausted.” We know you are the God, who lifts us up when we are down; heals us when we are sick, comforts us in our grief, and empowers us, when we are exhausted. Regardless of the difficulty or question, you, God, are the answer to every prayer. Only you, Lord, can fix a world as broken as this one. Today, during this pandemic, there are masses of hurting people. When Jesus was walking the earth, he always offered compassion to the hurting; help us to be like Jesus. In John 16:33, we read, “In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” These are the words of Jesus, a gift to us in times of trouble.Jesus wants us “to be of good cheer.” Jesus wants us to reveal our faith by focusing our attention on him, as the answer, the solution,of every difficulty. Lord, we know your mercy never fails us. Come Holy Spirit and make us cheerful: amen.
